Violence in Vanity Hits the Scene With an Epic Self Titled Debut Release

Coming together as a band made up of veteran musicians from an assortment of well known bands in the Baltimore music scene, Violence in Vanity seems to have found that perfect blend of musicians to make them a band to watch in 2016. In fact MARR has been doing just that from the very formation of this band as they have impressed not only us, but throngs of live music fans in the region as they burst onto the scene.

After releasing a string of impressive singles, the band has put it all together and will release their much anticipated self-titled debut EP on June 25 in Baltimore, MD at Baltimore Soundstage. We were a fan of this band from the first song of the first live performance we witnessed and are not surprised that this album is one amazing release from top to bottom.

The tune “Beyond The Dark” instantly became my personal favorite. This tune really highlights singer Dave Gascon’s amazing versatility as a vocalist. It is one of those tunes with a lot of changes in emotion and style throughout, reminiscent of the genre fans of bands like 10 Years, Tool and Chevelle will no doubt appreciate.

Cody Cook - Violence in Vanity

The EP features that special blend of head banging riffs co-mingled with melodic verses, that just make that perfect blend of heavy/mellow that makes this band special. Drummer Cody Cook has a voice that harmonizes perfectly with Gascon’s lead vocals. “Where We Divide” is a great example of how the band blends all of these elements together.

Jeff Lane

It is pretty hard for folks who like good guitar work to overlook Jeff Lane. This guy a has a “wow” factor on stage, that I have personally witnessed grab the attention of other guitarists in the audience. His skills are not wasted on this record. The tune “All For You” is a tune that really showcases Jeff’s skills and is another strong tune on the release. Jamey McElroy rounds out the lineup of the band as the newest member of the band, and fit in at once as a solid part of this band’s killer live show as soon as he signed on.
